This week the trend is new music
Thoughts on upcoming music, new TV shows, and AI features coming from Apple.
Spring hasn't quite sprung yet, but it's close. Likewise, the music industry is about to emerge from hibernation and deliver some of the year's biggest releases.
We just got a Kasey Musgraves album. Beyonce's country era is officially in full force. From here on out we start to get some of the albums that are going to be meaningful for 2024. There are also some I'm just personally looking forward to that have the potential to make my end-of-year list. Here are the artists and groups that I'm looking forward to putting out new music soon.
- Novo Amor (4/5)
- Vampire Weekend (4/5)
- Maggie Rogers (4/12)
- Local Natives (4/19)
- Taylor Swift (4/19)
- Dua Lipa (5/3)
- Kings of Leon (5/10)
- Twenty One Pilots (5/17)
- Maya Hawke (5/31)
- The Marias (5/31)
- James Vincent McMarrow (6/14)
- The Decemberists (6/14)
- The Early November (6/14)
Plus, this is just the first half. There will be lots more later in the year.
TV
TV doesn't quite have as many lull times as music, but it does feel like more shows are being released right now too. I'm having a hard time keeping up with a few shows at the moment.
I started 3 Body Problem (Netflix) and I like its mystery so far. I've almost finished The Gentlemen (Netflix) and unless it completely falls apart in the last episode, it will have been a compelling ride through the world of the sophisticated drug dealers.
Once I finish those I'll be starting Apples Never Fall (Peacock) or A Gentleman in Moscow (Paramount+).
Severance (Apple TV+) still hasn't wrapped filming season two but should be finished in the next couple of weeks. This one can't come soon enough.
